Dr Peter Davies

Dr Peter Davies is a 4x fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a particular interest in knee surgery, including sports knee injuries, knee preservation and knee replacement. He has undertaken extensive subspecialty fellowship training in Australia and the United Kingdom, including dedicated fellowships in knee surgery in Brisbane, Perth and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in the UK. He is dual accredited with fellowships of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Scotland). He holds a public appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with South Metropolitan Health Service.

Peter is happy to see patients across the spectrum of knee pathology, including ACL and other ligament injuries, meniscal tears, patellofemoral problems, cartilage and osteochondral lesions, hamstring injuries, early knee arthritis and patients requiring partial or total knee replacement. His training has placed a particular emphasis on preserving the native knee wherever appropriate, while also providing contemporary arthroplasty options for patients with established arthritis. He also has fellowship training in hip arthroplasty and is happy to assess patients with hip osteoarthritis.

Alongside his clinical practice, Peter has a strong academic interest in knee surgery and has published extensively on ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, multi-ligament knee injury, hamstring surgery and knee arthroplasty. His interest in sports medicine also extends beyond the operating theatre; he spent three seasons as first-team doctor for St Johnstone FC in the Scottish Premier League, including the club’s historic domestic cup double-winning season in 2021.

Peter places particular importance on maintaining clear and timely communication with referring GPs and working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure patients receive appropriate investigation, non-operative management or surgery according to their individual circumstances.
